What is a Black Box?
The Black Box Electric Vehicle Energy Management Systems (EVEMS) offers a reliable solution to install a level 2 charger in your home without the need to update your electrical panel. You can install up to 11.5 KW or 48A electric vehicle charger on your current electrical service without worrying about any overloading or power-tripping issues. There is no need to install an additional electric panel or pay extra to get a service upgrade. The Black Box Energy Management system is also compatible with the majority of electric vehicle (EV) manufacturers, which means you can invest in the product without any concerns in regard to your vehicle’s warranty.
Approved by Intertek, the Black Box Energy Management System comes in a convenient size perfectly designed to fit in small spaces. It is very quick and easy to install, requiring only 30 to 45 minutes for the entire process to complete.
Black Box currently offers two different models for their monitoring devices. EVEMS240-11 is great for service sizes up to 100 amps. Model EVEMS240-22 is designed for a larger amp service of 125-200 Amps.
How Does Black Box Energy Management System Work?
In simple words, the Black Box Energy Management System allows electric vehicles to charge quickly when the electrical capability in the building is sufficient. In the case of a large draw of power from other electrical devices in the house, the Black Box Energy Management system automatically stops providing power to the electric vehicle (EV) charger for a brief period of time when there is a lack of electrical capacity. This is done thanks to the intelligent patented system that monitors electrical current and automatically sheds the electrical load caused by the EV charger. It also eliminates the need for a panel upgrade or additional services and simultaneously offers an Electric Vehicle (EV) fast charging rate with a level 2 charger. The Black Box Energy Management System eliminates the additional load caused by the installation of a Level 2 electric vehicle (EV) charger, which in turn does not add to the load calculation for the electrical service in the house or require an electrical service upgrade.
Unlike conventional Energy Management Systems, Black Box provides one that is compact and also backed by a computer-supported algorithm. What this does is block out any undesired electrical fluctuations in the power supply, which are typically caused by household devices (clothes dryer, stove, hot tub, microwave, dishwasher) when they are starting. The efficient algorithm waits till oscillating loads have ended before initiating a charge back to your EV charger to prevent the short cycling of power.
Importance of Black Box Energy Management System
